Syncing Mind, Body & Heart

If your mind’s like pretty much everyone else’s, it’s probably really busy a whole lot of the time — and not necessarily tracking what’s going on with the rest of you — from about your neck down. Perhaps even when you finally take some needed time to practice being mindfully present, your mind has its own ideas, and prefers to time-travel through a procession of thought-streams, regardless of your best-laid plans to be right here, right now, grounded in stillness.

That’s where the 3-sync practice* might be a valued friend — whether during formal practice, or while taking an informal practice break during a task-driven day.

While foundational, single-focus practices such as the body scan help strengthen both attentional focus and deeper awareness of body sensation, the 3-sync practice helps to coral symphonies of sensation, emotion and thought streams by bringing awareness to each in succession, and then shining a light on the ways each field is connected to the others.

By ‘syncing’ our fields of experience in this way, we can widen our lens of awareness to include all that’s arising in our moment to moment experience, with kind and open hearts.

Here’s a short audio guidance, with which we invite you to try this practice for yourself.

* The 3-Sync practice is taught by Thomas Hubl, teacher, author, facilitator, and founder of The Academy of Inner Science, as a core practice for those working in the areas of collective healing and collective trauma.
